Marldon

St. John Baptist, Marldon, is looking to appoint a new organist/musical director with vision and enthusiasm. We have a beautiful church, two organs, a piano and a congregation for whom singing is an important part of their worship.

Pre-pandemic, the village had a committed church choir and a lively community choir and there is potential to build on this in the future, if desired, for the right candidate. The commitment would be for a regular Sunday morning service, at 10.00 am (Fee – £28 per Sunday morning plus travel expenses) Additional income could also be generated from occasional offices (weddings, funerals).

For more information please contact: Churchwarden: Steph Webb on 07810685371. All appointments are subject to safer recruiting.

Churston Ferrers

St Mary the Virgin, Churston Ferrers, near Brixham in Devon is seeking a new Organist/Musical Director (we are willing to split the post). We have a beautiful and historic church with an organ for which details can be found here. There are also a piano and keyboard available.

Our congregation appreciate a wide range of music and enjoy singing their hymns. The church has a long music tradition and we had a small choir until Covid, but this now needs to be built back up. On three Sundays of the month there is a sung Eucharist. We have an embryonic band at our monthly “All age Worship” and the successful applicant(s) will be expected to help with the development of this.

Besides a regular service on Sunday mornings there will be a requirement to play for weddings, funerals and baptisms for which there is extra remuneration. We have an excellent relationship with our local C of E school and once Covid is out of the way we would like to see their choir singing in the Church, occasionally.

Remuneration will depend upon experience and will be in line with RSCM rates. For more information or to ask for an application pack please contact Rev Stephen Yates at [email protected].
