Philip Arkwright has agreed that any members who would like to sample the organ before the main events of the day – that the organ will be available from 9.00–10.30. If anyone would like to take this opportunity please can you let me know as soon as possible. Members will need to bring their own music and depending on the numbers will be asked to play no longer than 5 minutes. If you can also indicate what time you will be arriving an order of play can be formulated.
Timetable
9.00am: Preliminary to the day - the chance to play the organ, led by Philip Arkwright.
10.30am: Registration in the Grange Restaurant (coffee/tea provided); quiz papers given to members.
11.00am: Session led by Philip Arkwright, Organist and Master of the Music at Buckfast Abbey – Introduction and Demonstration of The Abbey Organ.
12.00 noon: Buffet Lunch will be available in the Grange Restaurant.
2.00pm: Session led by Ian Curror, Former Director of Music at the Royal Hospital Chelsea; Organist, Choral Director and Teacher; Regional Consultant for the RCO – Reminiscences, Thoughts and Tips from a ‘Bench Polisher’.
3.00pm: Q & A with Ian Curror.
3.30pm: Tea and answers to the Quiz.
